Furnace - Forced Air Heating System





Forced -air heating systems rely on a central furnace that heats air and a blower that distributes the heated air through a system of ducts.

Natural gas and propane systems use open flames and must be vented to prevent carbon monoxide from building up in the home.

Electric systems don't have to be vented but is usually a more expensive heat source than gas.

Forced air systems quickly generate heat,and you can use the ductwork for air conditioning,or whole house humidifying or air purifying.

This reduces installation cost

As soon as the furnance shuts off the warm air begins to dissipate.

These systems also make your home a little more dusty.

Because forced air systems must heat air well above comfortable temperatures to compensate for heat loss as the air moves through ducts and registers, they are less energy efficient than some other heating alternatives.
